Singapore Democrats
The Singapore Democrats were at the Bukit Panjang constituency this morning stepping up their campaign there in anticipation of a general election to be called later this year. The SDP contested in the ward in the 2006 elections and will do so again in the upcoming one.
Party members and supporters met residents as they went about the Sunday business of marketing and having breakfast. Flyers alerting the people to the dire economic situation and how ministers continued to pay themselves unforgivable sums of money were distributed.
Some residents came up and asked for extra copies of the flyers to give to their friends. "I want to show it to my neighbour," one middle-aged lady said referring to the ministerial salaries.
Several other housewives who were sitting close by chimed in, shaking their heads: "We know, we know."
The Singapore Democrats have also been working in the Toa Payoh-Bishan GRC and will continue to campaign there in preparation for the GE.
