Pink dotted!

Pink dotted!

Pink Dot 2010

Hong Lim Park was awash in pink on Saturday afternoon as thousands came together for Pink Dot, a communal celebration of the freedom to love.

If the inaugural event last year presented a compelling show of solidarity, this year’s Pink Dot brought it farther by conveying a palpable sense of community as 4000 people – almost double the number last year – gathered for what is perhaps the largest show of support for diversity and inclusiveness in Singapore.

Pink Dot 2010 is held in conjunction with the International Day of the Family, in support and recognition of the parents, siblings, relatives and friends of LGBT Singaporeans. The event is a culmination of a series of activities that have taken place over the past few months on the Internet. Through the Focusing on Our Families series on the campaign’s official blog, we have come to hear of the real-life stories of strong, cohesive families who have been a strong source of support for the LGBT community.

Pink Dot 2010: The Event

At 5.00pm, the ambassadors of Pink Dot 2010, Adrian Pang, Tan Kheng Hua and DJ Big Kid kicked started the event with a rousing welcome message which honoured the families who have made growing up gay a much less lonely and painful experience. They also introduced a sign language translator for the benefit of the hearing impaired.

For the next hour, the crowd was treated to a series of performances featuring various ethnic groups. The highlight of the performances belonged to Voguelicious who delivered a sizzling dance with the group’s characteristic flamboyance. Those moving around the park similarly found unexpected thrills in the roving performers who included street magicians, musicians, bubble artists and drag queens.

But the most moving moments of the event indubitably belonged to the families who were featured in the Focusing on Our Families series. Speaking in Mandarin (with her daughter Eileena providing the translation), Mdm Yiap described how she came to accept her daughter’s sexuality and ended her speech with a heartfelt call for parents struggling with their children’s sexuality to love them as they are. Jamie Yee, a post-op transgender female as well as brothers Joel and Joey Kang also delivered a similar message as they voiced their aspirations for a society that is more open, inclusive and accepting of those who are different.

At 6.00pm, the crowd came together to form a heart, as a symbol of the collective belief in the power of love. This was followed by the formation of the human pink dot, captured in an aerial photograph for posterity. Led by the Pink Dot ambassadors, the crowd belted out the Ben E. King hit, “Stand by Me”.

The simple and understated pink dot is certainly more than a fleeting mark upon the grounds of a circumscribed space of freedom. It is an enduring testament to the power of love that seeks to reach out to all corners of society. It speaks of the possibilities of love when it is freed of the institutionalised strictures of dogma and prejudice.

It must be said that Pink Dot is an event of its own kind – a movement that has emerged from the cultural specificities of this city-state we call home. Indeed, it is neither a pride parade nor a protest. Neither is it a peaceful demonstration.

It is a space for collective imagination – an envisioning of a society empowered by love, family and soft diversity.

SDP CLAN might be eyeing this growing PINK POWER. what for? well, what else but to turn it into another sliming instrument against gahment of peesailand.

Well, if you look at USD's lineup of "candidates", you'll not fail to notice two things:

(a) none of them except monica kumar has ever stood for elections before

(b) the rest of them are prominently featured on SDP's website as taking part in overseas events and being members of international human rights organizations

Which suggests strongly that USD is to function as the international arm of SDP. Think of USD as SDP's "foreign wing".

This is a tactical manoeuvrings EVEN IF SDP is NOT wound up due to the bankruptcy thing.

Why do I say it is a tactical plot? Simple. SDP can now perform international networking either on its own, or through the auspices of USD. There is now more flexibility. And there is leverage to be gained here, especially if SDP is under the constant threat of becoming an illegitimate political party due to the lawsuits or if it faces further lawsuits in the future.

Controlling two political entities is always better than controlling one. USD can gain independent membership of key organizations worldwide. You might not see what the big deal is now. But always remember that politicians aim to build legacies. The lifeblood of SDP is its international network and its impact on various human rights groups worldwide.

Those holding key positions in USD now are being groomed by SDP to take over that mantle.

Reform Party chief on impasse with SDA

I WISH to correct Monday's report, 'SDA-Reform Party alliance: On or off?'. What I said was that our members had given us the go-ahead to enter into an alliance if negotiation reached that stage.

That is not the same as saying a tie-up has been agreed, nor is it asking us to push ahead with negotiation.

It is simply a vote of confidence in the secretary-general and the central executive committee to take that decision should it arise.

It would appear that the Singapore Democratic Alliance (SDA) has thrown out the baby with the bath water in deciding to treat the summary of broad areas of agreement already reached by both parties as a list of demands.

Normally, in a negotiation, it would be seen as a starting point for entering serious and final negotiations.

We have written to the SDA informing it that it may contact us about the possibility of continuing talks only after two conditions have been met:

•It needs to settle its internal disputes, and;

•It needs to take steps to trace and deal with the source of the leaked documents as all negotiation must begin with a presumption of trust between the parties.

At our next central executive committee meeting, the Reform Party will make a decision on what action to take should the SDA satisfy both those conditions and come back to us. But it will not be high on our list of priorities.

My respect and admiration for Mr Chiam See Tong remains unblemished, and I sincerely hope that he is able to bring them to their senses, although we will concentrate on our own candidates now.

Kenneth Andrew Jeyaretnam
Secretary-General
The Reform Party

recently, RP and SPP clans were trying to unite into a stronger force SDA to tackle the next GE fight or GRAND EXPONENTS kungfu challege held every 5 yrs against the paps from the LEEgime. alone, they were weak and could easily succumbed to the dominant forces from the famiLEE.

unfortunately, the negotiation didn't go smoothly. it was now a standstill. chiefy KJ from the RP CLAN suspected a "leak" which might have cause drastic misunderstanding between master chiam and KJ.

WHO WAS THAT LEAK? HOW DID IT HAPPEN THAT WAY??

TOC or teetu web's most popular THE ONLINE COCKTALK leeported the matter with much prejudices. the reason was obvious. JJ who was once RP disciple resigned as soon as he was accepted and ran off to take refuge in SDP CLAN. this beg the question:

WHY DIDN'T JJ JUST GO JOIN SDP IN THE FIRST PLACE INSTEAD OF BYPASSING RP TO JOIN SDP EVENTUALLY? was there a certain sinister scheme in JJ's arduous journey?

JJ was blessed with the talent of calligraphy and so he scripted the happening in TOC putting chiefy KJ in a very disadvantaged limelight. it probably had cast some aspersion and created some doubts in the cautious mind of master chiam.

master chiam as we had read was betrayed by his highly beloved disciple chee ah juan who in the end usurped master chiam's SDP throne and booted him out. such drama was still firmly and vividly etched in master chiam's greatly hurt mentality and had somewhat caused certain degree of internally incurable injury to poor kindly chiam.

WHY THE LEAK? again, we asked.

could it be SDP CLAN is feeling being intimidated by the enlarged power of 2 opp clans uniting? or was it a petty resentment and jealousy of camaderie which wittingly or unwittingly left out the importance and presence of master chee?

master chee had been fighting against the famiLEE ever since the day he was expelled from the sacred martial arts school of NUS. of late, there were spates of swords crossing between auntie lina chiam against master chee over the unscrupulous despicable sabotaging and dethroning of her husband master chiam. would one think master chee would spare his vengeance on her and her husband?

could the RP and SPP standstill be somewhat related to SDP clan?

whatever it was, we need a LEAK now. bladders were bursting and someone should provide a good LEAK.

another theory could be: SDP clan might have deployed "partyless" meber to io infiltrate SDA CLAN. once inside there, they would corrupt their thoughts with the mind-washing skill master chee had sinisterly bestowed unto his disciples of partyless.

being partyless had its privileges. they were very mobile and could wander from clan to clan joining them by faking as their clan members. at the same time, being partyless were also pantyless and hence even orgy party would not be a problem for them to infiltrate.

it was easy to LEAK being pantyless partyless. try it and u would leave home breezier without the panty. LOL!!

do not forget. if all else fail, SDP CLAN had their top-secret weapon: their deadly messenger carrier pigeons which were all loaded with the latest deadly viral strain of MAD COW PIG BIRD combination called the ZOMBIEDII IMBECILIUS virus. once infected, master chee's treacherous mind control skill would take over the victim.

SDP's messenger pigeons attacking zaobao

The Straits Times Forum editor Yap Koon Hong has told opposition politician Chee Soon Juan that he would be denied space in the Forum pages until he withdrew his “serious and unfounded aspersions” on the integrity of the newspaper. He was responding to previous reports on the SDP website which implied that The Straits Times had unfairly edited certain portions of Chee’s letters before publishing them.
Chee, the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) secretary general, had written to the newspaper on two separate occasions. On 17 March, the newspaper published Chee’s response to Lianhe Zaobao journalist Yew Tun Lian’s claims that he had been evasive to questions about foreign funding in an interview. On 15 April, Chee responded to a forum letter that had condemned his confrontational style of politics. On both occasions, shortened versions of his letters were published both in print and on the online forums. The original version of the letters have been posted on the SDP website.
In an email reply to Yap dated 5 May, Chee took issue with the fact that the title of his second letter had been changed to “PAP just as confrontational, replies Chee”, which implied that he was indeed confrontational. In fact, newspapers rarely use the headlines suggested by writers and most readers know that headlines, together with picture selection and captions, are the work of sub-editors and not writers.
The SDP website shows that almost half of Chee’s letter was deleted before publication. The original text was 635 words long. Forum page letters are generally less than 400 words long. The published version of Chee’s letter was 348 words long.
Chee also questioned Yap’s claims that The Straits Times‘ integrity had been damaged by the SDP’s articles, citing how the Singapore media was already ranked lowly in international press freedom rankings.
The SDP website reported that Yap wanted Chee to retract his statements about the integrity of The Straits Times, and that the newspaper would withhold publishing his letters in the forum pages until he did so.

SDP CLAN has created their own teetu website to continue sliming peesailand, creating prejudices and trying to instigate resentment and distrust of peasants against the LEEgime, ruler of peesailand.

zaobao being peesailand's reputable newspaper media isn't spared. master chee has deviously trained a flock of spamming pigeons to attack zaobao for refusing to print master chee's articles.

it's very strange that chee having his own teetu web isn't satisfied about the damage that he can create to the officials from the LEEgime. anyone or organisation that they deem pro-LEEgime shall not be spared from sdp's shadowy attacks.

one of the big grocerer, SHENG AH SIONG is also now a regular sliming target for the SDP CLAN. SDP CLAN is now facing winding up pretty soon. these bunch of troublemaker jokers got the nerve to teach SHENG AH SIONG who is a very successful well-loved heartlander grocerer to run his biz. ain't those really a bunch of clowns!!

back to master chee's spamming pigeons. one would wonder whether he inflicts his carrier pigeons wih the deadly bird flu H1N1 virus. it seems that most of the sdp disciples are inflicted by a new virus strain - a cross between the mad cow, the crazy pig and the avian virus. the result: SDP CLAN should be quarantined cos they got the latest of the worst deadliest multiplex new strain virus. it's called MAD NINJA TURTLE zombiedii imbecilius.

now you understand why they are such good public entertaining clowns. well, thanks to this new multiplex viral strain which only affects sdp disciples.

don't worry, every peesailanders is safe. MAD NINJA TURTLE zombiedii imbecilius is selective and only sdp disciples are proned to it. by the way, the only cure for them is to spend a brief check-in into peesailand's changi holiday resorts for full (or usually partial) detoxification. but no one can guarantee a full recovery and recurring infection from all those infected spamming (virus) carrier pigeons master chee is breeding enthusiastically.

18 crazy dragons deadly blows only reduced to 12

it was out!! the news about how our 18 crazy dragons deadly blows were now reduced to a pathetic 12. the formation of this deadly kungfu was thoroughly maimed when one after another hastily quit their respective stance.

just like 18 buzzing flies, one third of them were swapped and crushed by the LEEgime's humongous fly-swatter or in simple term, the LAW. miserably, they had coughed out their pitance broken taels to pay for the fines.

the remaining 12 were preparing their luggage soon to check into peesailand changi holiday resorts. they would prefer to go for such retreat so that they could highlight their plight to the international martial arts world and hoping that foreign artilleries of baboons and ang mo lau kaus (red haired monkeys) would either come to their rescue or slime with all the shits from externally against peesailand.

would there be peace after their check-in? lamui who was now LAN-C bandit chiefy of USD, U SEE DITDIT CLAN would be leaving her scapegoat SDP CLAN's subsidiary chope party vacant. who was going to rule over it while she was gone? would there be another partyless pantyless replacement? who would that be?

has she turned USD into a water margin club of criminals?

stay tuned for further updates......

12 buzzing SDP flies going for holidays soon

A DOZEN leaders and supporters of the opposition Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) were charged in court on Wednesday with taking part in an illegal assembly in 2008.

The seven SDP leaders were secretary-general Chee Soon Juan, 47; chairman Gandhi Ambalam, 67; vice-chairman Francis Yong, 60; assistant secretary-general John Tan, 48; and central committee members Chee Siok Chin, 44; Jeffrey George, 46; and Sylvester Lim, 49.

The five supporters were activists Seelan Palay, 25; Chong Kai Xiong, 28; Yap Keng Ho, 48; Jaslyn Go, 37; and former Workers' Party candidate Chia Ti Lik, 36.
The group allegedly took part in an illegal assembly in front of Block 190, Toa Payoh Lorong 6, on Aug 9, 2008 - Singapore's National Day.

It was to publicise the SDP's Tak Boleh Tahan (Malay for 'cannot take it anymore') campaign, which was targeted at issues like rising costs of living.
A pre-trial conference has been fixed for June 2. Each faces a fine of up to $1,000 if convicted under the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) Act.

USD , the new opp party and subsidiary of SDP is obviously comprised of criminals.

I’m coming online now to seek your supports and advice on my marriage problem.
I’m sure most of you have read the Shin Min Daily News front page news of 15 Nov 2007. Yes, I’m the man featured in the news.
My problem started when my company got into a business dispute with a major customer. The customer threatened to sue for damages for the inferior goods supplied. As I’m ignorant of business laws, I got worried that the lawsuit might ruin the company completely.
Luckily (or unluckily?), my wife Jaslyn Go (aka LaMei) and I found a lawyer Chia Ti Lik (aka TiLik) in Tanjong Pagar (Chia Ngee Thuang & Co.; 24 Peck Seah Street, #05-09/11 Nehson’s Building, Singapore 079314. Tel: 62259983; Fax: 62237856; Email: ngeethuangc@hotmail.com) who was willing to take on the case. As my wife was a director of my company without portfolio, this legal dispute was delegated to her to liaise with the lawyer. Fortunately we won the litigation, and I was very thankful to the lawyer.
After the legal dispute was settled, my wife continued to see this lawyer in the day time. At first I thought she was bored as a housewife, and it was good to keep contact with a lawyer who would be useful for future legal dealings.
Lately I discovered that she had been communicating with the lawyer using MSN. In one of many messages, she expressed that she wanted to marry him rather than being his mistress forever. Rumors started to appear that she was driving my car from my home in Queenstown to visit his home in Yishun during day time when I was busy at work. She even went to the extent of sending him to his office in Tanjong Pagar from Yishun. What she did in his home is everyone’s guess.
Finally I felt that I must confront this bastard lawyer before my marriage is completely destroyed. So I visited his law firm in Nehson’s Building. The rest of the story was reported in the Shin Min Daily News front page news of 15 Nov 2007.
I’m amazed that a highly educated lawyer would want an O-Level mother with 2 kids.
I regret that I didn’t find out this womanizer lawyer earlier and I was made to wear green hat!
After this adulterous affair is exposed, this lawyer, who is already married, behaves like a typical playboy and does not want to marry my wife.
The question is: Should I divorce my wife?
The thought of divorcing my wife and giving her half of my assets and still maintaining her really makes me sick. What happens if she is stilling seeing him after gaining half of my assets and maintenance fees from me? I would be really looked like a fool of financing a mistress for the bastard lawyer!
What would be the best options for me? Please help!

am i lazy, fussy or simply switched off?

STRAITS TIMES cheery report about the availability of jobs

a reader's letter to STFORUM about the dilemma his father faces about getting a job.

observe the stark contradiction. one of them is not telling the trtuh. no prize for guessing who is pinnochio.

i think i m SWITCHED OFF. relaxed and retired for good.

after losing my garden, i was conned to work for free for an avaricious contractor who still owed me 3 mths pays. not only that, all my plants from my bulldozed garden were migrated to his nursery. so there u have it! not only i didn't get any pay for doing quite a number of landscaping works for him, my plants were complimentary stocks to his nursery :(

i still had my few landscape maintenances to look after. that provided me with some form of regular income which was just barely sufficient to meet monthly expenses and groceries shopping.

but that didn't last long unfortunately. my guy who i had trained from a simpleton young farmer to now a self employed hotshot gardener in demand betrayed me. i didn't know - up till today - whether his falling from a tall ladder accident and thus crippling his arms was true or a faked up but the fact that he took the initiative to terminate ALL my garden maintenance contracts with my existing clients was something i didn't anticipate from him.

anyway, the fees collected from my garden contracts were mostly paid to him. i only pocketed about 30% of the amount collected as i also needed to visit and inspect the landscaped gardens which were once designed and constructed by me. surprisingly, this scenario didn't seem to faze me. i had sort of anticipated it long ago when i discovered he was already moonlighting behind my back.

so that was it. no more garden contracts to maintain. no more monthly income. luckily i still have a self-supporting talent and that was shares trading. it was retirement for me.... everyday was a relaxing day. no more stress. no more complaints like: bob, the leaves of my hibiscus are shedding. could u come and have a look?

it was good life. until i landed a part time job with a new reputable garden which opened up a branch in queensway. it was very near my home. working there was ok even though i was deducted every day 1 hr for lunch. (that wasn't told during the intereview and i worked through lunch until i realised that in my first month payceck) it was complicated working there.

their highly paid "sales director" was always leeching on me:(. i heard he borrowed money from almost everyone but without the decency to refund. soon, it was my turn to lend him without the hope of ever seeing my hard-earned money returning.

as i was still driving my pickup to work there, i was exploited to use my vehicle to help in the delivery with promise to supplement me with only $8 per trip regardless of how long the journey. out of responsibility, i obliged. but after many delivery assignments, there wasn't any extra money in my monthly cheque.

as if that wasn't enough, sometime i had to work very late past my agreed working time of 6pm. i had to continue working till 9pm. at about 7pm, it was dinner. again i was used and abused. sale director would request me to drive my vehicle to buy for him and some of the staffs dinner. (i presumed meals were provided). off i drove my vehicle buying dinner for myself and the rest of the staffs.

the sad part was: i wasn't reimbursed. that dinner money were paid out of my own pocket. ( i wonder whether the SD made a claim for it and pocket the meal allowances for himself and i ended up having to pay for it :(

though my title was a HORTICULTURIST, my job was bao ka liao situation. i had to sweep the floor. cleared the garden trash bins. ordered new stocks - plants, chemcials, etc. answered to cutomers' non stop queries about plants, about delayed deliveries, about host of other matters....

i even had to man the cashier. at the end of the day, i had to tally the sales. if there were extra $, the SD would take it. where the money went, only god and he knew! if the amount was lacking, to save all the troubles, i just topped it up to balance the account and i could go home to rest after a weary sweaty work day.

my deep passion for plants relieved me for being frustrated and exploited thus. unfortunately, the last straw came when the big boss arrived one day and told me that i needed to clock out and clock in when i did my plants delivery. the period while i was away was supposed to be deducted off from my hourly rated pay. my god!! for $8 using my pickup and petrol....and i faced the prospect of pay deduction?

it was about time i called it a day. i quit!

now, i saw this contradicting news/letter from the STRAITS TIMES. i wonder just how much does our labour ministry really side with the employees or continue to fake up cheerful news. cos if it's that authentic, i would be busy tiptoeing the daisies in a nice big nursery happy doing my gardening.
