Interesting Story on Wayang Party...

Wah, now we have another version of the story of how Wayang Party was founded... Please note, it practically saying that TRWatch here in Sammyboy was one of the original Wayang Party website founder!

Time to let the cat out of the bag since TNP has already published it.

I can attest to what the writer has written, the part about Joseph not being in the picture when TR was then WP because I was in the editorial team but left when we were bought out

Back in WP days, there were 4 editors/admin, namely Eugene, me, Amanda and Damon. For those who know wordpress, there are 5 roles for users and are as follows: Administrator, Editor, Author, Contributor and Subscribers (all registered users are subscribers).

Please be patient with me as I explain the roles and permissions so I can offer a better understanding of what I am going to say about the history of WP, TR is a different story and Molina and team is in a better position to fill all of you in since I am no longer involved with TR.

1. Administrator is the ultimate owner of the blog and has all permission and access to the forum, add user, delete posts, edit posts, edit user posts, EVERYTHING. The administrator back then was Eugene with the moniker admin01 also known as TRWatch on many other forums.

2. Editor basically has the same permission of the Administrator but without the ability to change certain administrative settings for the blog, for example addons, disable functions, etc. There was 3 of us with that role on WP, Amanda, Damon and me (my moniker was AT or admin04).

3. Then comes the Author which is where Joseph come into the picture. Note the permission because it is very important for what I have to say. An Author can ONLY create and edit his own post and publish it, not even moderate comments. And because of this fuction, if the Author’s moniker used then was Joseph (for example), then all posts by him would appear with the Author being “Joseph” unlike most of the posts here appearing as “Your Correspondent”. ONLY editors and admin has the permission to change that Author settings and Joseph certainly doesn’t have that permission. There were a total of 3 Authors then, Jeremy being one of them with Joseph.

4. Now to the last role of a Contributor, the permission is the same as the Author but less the publishing part. He cannot publish his own post without an Editor or Admin approving it. The writer of this article, BK falls under this category.

Now to the relevant history of WP prior to this new management which many are dying to hear.

The actual “founding father” of WP was Eugene (admin01). He was the one who decided on the domain name and had it registered under another Author Jeremy Yu’s name. The email contact used was Joseph Ong’s Gmail address. So basically, the ownership of WP was Joseph Yu while Joseph was the “receptionist” for Domain Contacts.

We (excluding Amanda and Damon who joined later), thus 4 of us Eugene, Joseph, Jeremy and me) actually “met” in Delphi Forums back then and decided to setup WP to try to be as successful as SamLeong’s Delphi Forum with no specific direction or preferences. We just write whatever was available to us and posted whatever thrown at us but then things changed.

WP then was beginning to sway towards being a hate forum and self-restrain was minimal if not, non existance. While many of us with say in the forum tried to prevent WP from going down in history as thrash site, Eugene became an “extremist” and started to post details, information and pictures of the person he dislike, mug sling opposition parties he didn’t like and churn out misleading articles like nobody’s business. Some of the “victims” of WP then was Goh Meng Seng, Andrew Loh, Remy Choo, just to name a few.

It was then we decided that enough was enough and either he (Eugene) should leave or we will leave and sell the domain off if there are takers. Eugene choose to leave in an unhappy tone and the remaining of us tried to keep WP alive but we were going down. Eugene is still sore with us to this day and have been slamming everything WP&TR related on many forums under the moniker TRWatch. Probably because he did not received a cut of the $3800 which was paid for all our domains.

Joseph then registered another domain, Singapore Enquirer but it did not take off as planned. Jeremy did the same with a new domain name Temasek Review which didn’t managed to take off as expected. The 3 of us were then still working together on all of these domains. We tried then to persuade a few Uni blogs and forums to join us but we failed too.

I stayed with both of them until we were approached by the present management led by Molina who wholesale bought all our domains and “sacked” all of us. The negotiation started early 2009 and took a few months because we had agree to let Molina and her team “test the water” while we remained as “adviser” for a month to them during the transition period.

It is therefore wrong for TNP to claim that Joseph was the founder of WP because he never had managerial role to start with. For all those who doubt both the TNP and TR version of events, I leave it up to you to buy mine. Its been quite some time so the chain of events may be misplaced but the gist remains.the gist remains.
